A bad Day Turns Good

Tori stamped through the rain angry and wet, very wet shoving her key into the door.she slammed the door open to escape the rain. Some fool had parked a silver grey Golf in her spot. She drove two blocks along before finding an empty space to park, and was forced to run through the pouring rain.

Out of breath, angry, and soaking wet, Tori paused just inside the apartment she shared with her lover, Chaz. Her feet frozen in place, she looked down at the small pools of water forming around her wet shoes. Something was not right. The flat smelled like a bread bakery.

Suddenly a woman's head popped out from behind the kitchen door in a shock of red hair. "Hi, my name's Jennifer!" the redhead called.

Tori clung to the front door knob without speaking, always uncomfortable in the presence of strangers never knowing what to say.

"You must be Tori. Chaz told me all about you."

Tori managed to mutter a reply, "You must be a friend of Chaz."

Stupid of course, she was a friend of Chaz. How else would she have got into the apartment? So Chaz had told Jennifer all about Tori. That did not sound good because Chaz had never told Tori anything about Jennifer. Tori felt betrayed.

Jennifer tried to cover her embarressment with a quick smile.

"You can let go of the door knob now. I I don't bite."

Tori looked down at her hand, still tightly grasping the doorknob, Jennifer's smile made her feel foolish. "oops2, she let go of the door handle.

"You have a silver golf by any chance?" asked Tori trying hard to appear intelligent.

"That's right," answered Jennifer brightly. "I must have parked in your spot."

Tori used her fingers to brush the dripping strands of hair hanging in her face behind her ears. Irritated by Jennifer's still smiling face and feeling very wet and rather foolish, Tori rushed past her with an apology.
